3-D scanning
Using Creaform 3-D scanners, capture the form of a physical object as the starting point for a digital model. Bring us the object or talk with us about on-site scanning.

01 THE SERVICE
Have an object that needs to be measured or brought into a digital workflow? Start with what it is and what you need from it. We’ll talk through the scan and CAD-file deliverable together.
Using Creaform 3-D scanners, capture the form of a physical object as the starting point for a digital model. Bring us the object or talk with us about on-site scanning.
OBJECT → SCAN DATAReceive a CAD file developed from the scanned object for workflows such as reverse engineering or rapid prototyping. Tell us how you plan to use the model so we can agree on the right deliverable before work begins.
SCAN → CAD FILEEvery object and project is different. Share its size, location, intended use, and timing; we’ll confirm the scope and schedule before committing.
YOUR PROJECT → CLEAR NEXT STEPFile formats, modeling requirements, and project timing are confirmed during scoping.
02 HOW IT WORKS
You don’t need to know the technical terminology to get started. A useful conversation about the object and what you need it to do is enough to begin.
What is it, where is it, and what do you need the model for? Photos and approximate dimensions help us prepare.
We’ll discuss access, the CAD file you need, and a schedule that fits the project.
Once the plan is clear, we’ll scan the object and provide the agreed 3-D CAD deliverable.
03 EXPERIENCE THAT STARTED WITH MAKING
Scott Strikwerda brings 20 years of scanning experience in the Salt Lake area—and a maker’s understanding of how digital models connect to real things.
Before CNC Arts Scanning Services, Scott ran Lone Peak Carvings, creating intricate wood doors, mantels, and home furnishings through CNC machining and scanning.
That hands-on background informs the way we approach a project: understand the object, clarify what you need, and agree on the deliverable before work begins.

04 BEFORE WE BEGIN
Projects vary, so the best first step is to tell us what the object is, its approximate size, where it is, and what you need from the CAD file. We’ll confirm whether the project is a fit after reviewing those details.
A 3-D CAD file developed from the scanned object. We’ll agree on the file format and modeling requirements during project scoping so the deliverable matches your intended use.
On-site work can be discussed for projects in the Salt Lake area, southern Utah, and surrounding states. Share the location and project details so travel and logistics can be considered.
05 START A CONVERSATION
Tell us a little about the object and what you need from it. We’ll take it from there.
